Will AI replace Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches?

AI Ninja

There is no week without new stunning capabilities being announced.

At the same time, there is the battle between open and closed-source AI, lawsuits about copyright infringement, and founding agreements— the competition is in full swing.

So has the outcry of “AI will eat my job” been loud in the last months.

So, is the profession of Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches in danger of being eaten by AI?

Yes – and no.

AI will replace those Scrum Masters who lack empathy – a (still) exclusively human trait.

Marc Kaufmann (me ;))

Celina made some excellent additional points (in German) here:

AI is there and will stay. No doubt. It might replace those who refuse to adapt – and will help those who can embrace it to create additional value.

Do not get me wrong: there are legitimate concerns about the use of AI—privacy, security, ethical values, and the spread of misinformation, to name a few—but I do not believe that approaching AI with fear is the right approach.

We should remain curious, embrace it, see where it can help, openly discuss its challenges, and rely on what makes us humans special: emotion, empathy, and connection.

This is why I created two offerings:

The ScrumMaRCster – a ChatGPT trained by me trying to emulate how I would answer challenging (Scrum) questions with a solution-focused attitude.

AI Superpowers for Product Owners – a full-day course exploring how Product Owners can benefit from using AI to maximize product value.

What is your stake in AI? Where does it help, and where do you see the challenges?
